Kazbegi Ice Climbing Festival returns, 7-9 February
Three days of fixed top-ropes, beginner clinics, and a mixed-climbing competition at the Gveleti falls.
The ice festival returns to the Gveleti falls between Stepantsminda and the Russian border for its fifth edition. The lower falls host beginner clinics with rented tools and crampons — no experience needed, kids over 10 welcome. The upper falls carry the mixed route competition on Sunday.
All routes are set and belayed by the organising club. Day pass is 90 GEL, three-day pass 220 GEL; tool rental is 40 GEL per day.
Accommodation in Stepantsminda fills early for the festival weekend. Transfer demand from Tbilisi is heavy; our regular two-hourly shuttle adds four extra Friday-afternoon departures on 7 February.
