Gudauri extends Kobi gondola with a new mid-station
The new mid-station cuts queues on powder mornings and opens 1.2 km of previously off-piste terrain for intermediates.
The resort finished welding the mid-station cabin last week and ran the first empty test cycles on Monday. The station sits at 2,470 m, roughly halfway up the Kobi gondola, and lets skiers skip the lower pitch when the lift queue builds up at the base.
A new blue run drops from the mid-station back to the valley through a saddle that used to be hike-only. The piste team spent August clearing scree and installing padding on the two rock outcrops at the top.
Official opening is tied to the resort's season start on 14 December, weather permitting.
